Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-17. This policy explains what everydayfrench.fr collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Who is responsible
This site is run by Aurélie Gonzalez (Everyday French). If you have any question about your data, or want to exercise any of the rights below, email aurelie@everydayfrench.fr.
What we collect, and why
The newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address. We use it only to send you the newsletter. It is sent with Mailjet, which stores it on our behalf. We ask for your explicit consent before subscribing you, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. We keep your address until you unsubscribe.
The free level test
If you enter your email to see your result, we store your email address, your level, and your answers so we can show you the result and, if you agreed to it, send you advice matched to it. If you would rather we deleted this, just ask.
Exercises, flashcards and pronunciation
Your practice progress is saved in your own browser (local storage) and is not sent to us. Clearing your browser data clears it. No account is needed to practise.
If you use the pronunciation recorder, the recording is processed in your browser so you can compare yourself with the model audio. It is not uploaded unless you explicitly save it.
Comments
If you leave a comment, WordPress stores the name and email you type, your IP address, and your browser’s user agent, to help detect spam.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which resources people actually use, so we can make more of what helps. It sets cookies and tells Google about your visit. It only runs if you accept it in the cookie banner, and you can change your mind at any time from that banner.
Embedded content from other sites
Some pages embed content from Spotify (the podcast), Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Those services can see that you loaded their content and may set their own cookies, exactly as if you had visited them directly. We don’t control what they collect — their own privacy policies apply.
Server logs
Our host, Hostinger, keeps standard server logs (including IP addresses) for security and troubleshooting.
Cookies
Strictly necessary cookies make the site work — including one that remembers whether you chose light or dark mode. Analytics cookies only load with your consent. The cookie banner lets you review or withdraw that consent whenever you like.
Who your data is shared with
We don’t sell your data and we don’t share it for advertising. It is handled on our behalf by: Mailjet (newsletter), Google (analytics), and Hostinger (hosting). Embedded content is served by the platforms named above.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, hand it over in a portable form, or stop using it — and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email aurelie@everydayfrench.fr and we’ll deal with it. If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
